Believe in the Power of Practice

December 20, 2016

In thinking about this quote as it pertains to tango, I whole heartedly believe that structured practice reaps huge rewards. Many consider the Holy Grail of tango to be that mystical moment in the dance where "two become one." This moment is also magical for me, but not all that mystical. In George Leonard's book Mastery, he proffers that masters of any craft do not arise solely from natural talent, but instead from hard work and hours of relentless, precise, methodical, practice. As a dancer, I feel most free and "present in my body" or "at one with my partner" when I practice and and try to advance my dance. I truly believe no matter who you are, when you started dancing, or what your life situation may be, you too can experience the magical moments of tango, and practicing your craft may just help you get there more often ;-)
